You have 10 hours. How far can you go? UltraTrax is a single-day endurance walking challenge where you choose your distance: 7, 14, 21, or 28 miles. Complete it unweighted or take it up a level with a 10, 20, or 35 lb ruck and earn bonus swag along the way. Built for all experience levels, UltraTrax brings together anyone ready to see what they’re capable of.
A mountain-built trek across Wintergreen’s rugged Blue Ridge slopes. Push your pace. Carry your weight. Move with the pack.
Wintergreen features two options to choose from: a moderate course (UCR: 4) or expert course (UCR: 7). Beginner and intermediate trekkers can complete their experience on some of Wintergreen’s more established trails: Highlands Leisure Trail, Laurel Springs, Fawn Ridge, and White Oak Trail, with stretches of Wintergreen Drive and White Oak Drive connecting the sections together, for a total elevation gain of 1,200 feet.
For advanced participants looking for an extra challenge, our expert course follows the Old Appalachian Trail and leads to areas with rocky and rooty footing, some exposed sections, and a handful of spots technical enough that you’ll be rock scrambling a bit, especially on the descents.
Please note: the advanced option will only be available in safe weather conditions and may close/be adjusted in the event of rain or wet terrain.

FAQs
We have an open start line from 7am-8am. Because of sunrise and sunset this time of year, we're asking Level 3 participants to line up and start alongside Level 4, at 7:00 AM. Level 1 and 2 particpants will then line up and start at 7:30am.
Yes. All distances must be completed within 10 hours to officially finish the challenge and earn your UltraTrax patch and medal (Level 3 and 4 only). This window is designed to push you, but still give walkers of all abilities enough time to complete the course safely.
Not at all. UltraTrax is built for all levels of athletic ability. You choose your distance and whether to level up with a weighted vest or ruck.
Yes! We have aid stations located every 2.5-3 miles along the course with water, electrolytes and snacks. Toilets are also positioned at regular intervals.

Wear clothing you’re comfortable sweating in. Light, breathable layers, moisture-wicking socks, and a hat or sun protection. Choose trail shoes or road shoes you’ve already tested on longer walks. If conditions are wet or muddy, trail shoes with grip are ideal.
UltraTrax is designed as a walking event, but you won’t be disqualified for running! We just ask that you follow approporatie trail etiquette and only pass when it’s safe and there’s plenty of room. If the trail narrows to single-track or feels crowded, we ask that you slow to a walk and stay in line until it opens up again.
Your safety comes first. If you need to stop, UltraTrax volunteers and staff will help guide you back to the base area or to the nearest aid station.
The route will be clearly marked with signage, arrows, bright tape, and volunteers will be stationed at key intersections and aid points.
Because UltraTrax requires significant planning, staffing, and coordination with our resort / course partners, registrations are non-refundable. If you can no longer attend, you may transfer your registration to a future event date for a small fee.
We’re here to help. Email us anytime at info@ultratraxgo.com and our team will get back to you quickly.
